Exposure Forecast Methodology
How EnvioGrid generates 24-hour air quality and weather forecasts for informed daily planning.
Last updated: May 2025
Forecast Data Sources
Hourly forecasts are generated using:
- Open-Meteo Weather API: Provides hourly temperature, humidity, wind speed, and precipitation forecasts
- Open-Meteo Air Quality API: Provides hourly AQI, PM2.5, and PM10 forecasts
Forecast Components
Each 24-hour forecast includes:
- Hourly AQI with color-coded status indicators
- Temperature in Fahrenheit
- Humidity percentage
- Wind speed in mph
- PM2.5 and PM10 concentrations
- Best and worst windows for outdoor activities
Best/Worst Window Calculation
The "best window" is the hour with the lowest forecast AQI. The "worst window" is the hour with the highest forecast AQI. These help users plan outdoor activities around optimal air quality conditions.
Limitations
- Forecast accuracy decreases with time โ later hours are less reliable
- Sudden weather events (wildfires, dust storms) may not be reflected in forecasts
- Local microclimates may differ from forecast conditions
