Neighborhood Comparison Methodology
How EnvioGrid compares ZIP codes within the same city to help users find the best neighborhood for their needs.
Last updated: May 2025
Comparison Methodology
Neighborhood comparisons are generated using:
- Geographic Proximity: ZIP codes within the same city are grouped for comparison
- Air Quality: AQI values are compared across nearby ZIP codes
- Amenity Density: Number and variety of POIs per ZIP code
- Peer Tiers: ZIP codes are categorized into tiers based on environmental and lifestyle metrics
Peer Tiers
ZIP codes are assigned to peer tiers (A, B, C, D) based on a composite score of air quality, amenity density, and environmental performance. This helps users quickly understand how a ZIP code compares to its neighbors.
Limitations
- Comparisons are relative โ a "better" AQI in one ZIP may still be moderate overall
- Neighborhood boundaries don't always align with ZIP code boundaries
- Personal preferences and priorities may differ from our comparison criteria
