Local Amenities Methodology
How EnvioGrid catalogs and presents local services, public facilities, and community amenities.

Data Sources
Local amenities are sourced from OpenStreetMap (OSM) using the Overpass API. We catalog:
- Post Offices (amenity=post_office)
- Libraries (amenity=library)
- Public Pools (leisure=swimming_pool, access=public)
- Community Centers (amenity=community_centre)
- Public Transit Stops (highway=bus_stop, railway=station)
- Banks & ATMs (amenity=bank, amenity=atm)
- Pharmacies (amenity=pharmacy)
Data Presentation
Amenities are presented as categorized lists with distances from the ZIP code centroid. Each category is clearly labeled for easy scanning.
Limitations
- OSM coverage varies by location — urban areas have more complete data
- Hours of operation and service availability may not be current
- Some amenities may be temporarily closed or permanently removed
